Ok...as if the mandarin problem wasn't enough! My foxface is suddenly not acting well. She was sitting on the bottom with the actinics on...I turned on the daylights and added some food. She swam close to the top toward the food, but didn't eat. She is ALWAYS my little piggy! She seems to have somewhat labored breathing. Everyone else in my tank is as happy as a clam (so to speak) and very active. Plus, I think the mandarin is on the way to recovery! :D

I don't see any spots of any sort on the foxface and her tummy is full (but not abnormally so). I added some Amquel plus (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, chlorine, chloramine reducer) before testing. I will test soon, but just realized adding this may throw my readings off. My salinity is 1.024 and temp is 79. I also moved the powerhead so it is disturbing the surface of the water more. Perhaps lack of oxygen? I added some new live rubble, chaeto, and brine shrimp just the other day (for the mandarin). Do you think any of this would have any effect on the foxface? Maybe she is just full from chowing down on the new chaeto?

I'm stumped. Any suggestions? She is one of my favorite fish...I hope she doesn't decide to "sleep with the fishes"!

ARRRGGHHH!! She's starting to do that tip to the side thing! She is probably doomed! :cry Not sure what to do...I can't see anything wrong!

Well, now it looks like the end is imminent. :( She is up against a powerhead. I have no idea why this is happening! She has been so healthy. I noticed last night that she wasn't as active as usual, but she went after the food with gusto. I wonder what brought her down so fast. These are usually such resilient fish!

Gary said that perhaps it is an internal parasite. Do they usually work this fast? Do I need to treat my other fishies a certain way to ward off disease. I have garlic on hand. I guess I will soak the food in it each time for now.

I am so sad! :cry My kids are going to be heartbroken too. I wish there were something I could think of to do, but it would probably be too late now anyway. :(

How long have you had the Fox Face?

Several months. She was an adult when I got her.

Well, as I predicted, she died yesterday. :cry I have no idea what happened. Everyone else is still acting normal with no spots or anything on them. I am hoping she died of old age. <_< However, more than likely there was something wrong. Has anyone ever had a fish do this? Did you ever find out what the problem was?
