Has anybody used or have any input on the Fission in tank skimmers for the nano tanks?

If you do a search over on nano-reef.com there are alot of reviews, most say that they are junk. A few people have been able to modify them so that they work OK.
If you have a nano, Id recommend the Aqua C Remora Nano. I have one on my 22g and it works pretty well.

I've been looking at the reviews, and like Sean say's, the reviews say they are junk.

There was some talk on one of the nano-forums about this one being designed to solve some of the problems with the other nano skimmers:

It's just now available, but it's pretty pricey. Please understand, I know NOThING about this thing though.

I have one. It is junk. It feels like a toy. Looks like a toy. Way too many pieces. I felt like everytime I turned around the ****ed thing came apart at one joint or another. The collection cup is a cruel joke. It does come with a nozzle to attach airline to. I've heard they work great that way. I also did not like the fact that it was hung on 2 tiny little suction cups that would pop off all the time.

With that said I'll sell you mine for $20 and you can try wahatever you want.

Although expensive, I'd suggest looking into the Deltec MCE300. Pictures from one of ours will be soon to come.

those saphires look pretty sweet, and they have one designed specifically for a nanocube... that's pretty sweet.

Not a bad design. Looks like I may go visit the Regal Scrap bin and make a working model of my own ;)

Ah but unless it's in a sump it'll be picking up bottom water right? Isn't that what makes the AquaC so much superior to most HOT skimmers? That nifty overflow box that goes in the tank? Maybe the one in the pic is designed to squeeze into a manufactured nano like JBJ or Oceanic?

mike,

that model is specifically designed to go into nano-cubes (jbj specifically but I am sure it would fit in most of them.) and when you think about it, those overflow boxes on those nano-cubes are the same thing as your talking about, except this skimmer sits IN it.

It looks like they have three different models including one for the Oceanic biocube 29 (mine). I contacted them and they should be sending info soon.

by the time pay me for the skimmer, and buy a pump, it will probably cost the same as if you bought it from them. that would probably be your best bet if they have one specifically designed for your tank.
