Im just getting into the saltwater world and my roommate has a 60 gallon tank. i have a fire shrimp (about 2in.) and was wondering if it would be compatible with a coral banded(we need something to regulate bristle worms). any info is appreciated, thx!

Title says 'Cleaner shrimp' but you write about a fire and coral banded shrimp. I'm a little confused. There are many types of shrimp, 4 being the most common, Cleaner shrimp (also known as a skunk shrimp), Coral Banded (usually white and red), Fire shrimp (deep red in color with white dots), and Peppermint shrimp. I have 2 cleaner shrimp, a fire shrimp and 2 peppermint shrimp in my tank and they all get along just fine. I don't like the coral banded too much becuase he can get aggressive at times. Normally hit or miss with them. Bristle worms are fine they really help out in the long run, just take the long suckers out if you can because those are the ones that sting.

Ditto the above. Coral Banded shrimp DO tend to be aggressive... I won't own another one.

heh i told you i was a saltwater newb so far :) trying to learn all that i can. my fire shrimp is pretty large, so im thinking if i got a smaller coral banded it might not be so aggresive towards the fire shrimp. does that seem like a feasible way of going about this?

i dont know if the size of the tank would make a difference, but it is a 60 gallon tank.

coral bandeds can get big fast. so it may not be to long until he's as big as the fire .
