Hi all, I'm in the market for a new nanocube around 12 gallons in size. trying to decide between JBJ nanocube DX or the Oceanic biocube 14g. the oceanic sounds better due to moonlights, larger tank volume, but wondering if anyone has any experience/input. Please advise, thanks! Here's a link to the oceanic: (hope its ok to link? cant seem to find the rules)

I recently bought a 14gallon BioCube and have been pleased with it, the lights are powerful and it doesn't produce much heat thanks to having the ballasts outside the canopy and having a fan.

I wouldnt recomend either if you are serious at all. They are fine for mushrooms and zoos but you wont get much growth. Plus there more like 9-10gallons.

I recommend the Current Aquapod with HQI light upgrade. I'm keeping everything from softies to sps in it.

The current aquapod would be great if it had a fitted canopy. I was going to get one but it just looks like an expensive petco 20 set up. It just looks like an expensive open aquarium with a really expensive light attached over it like most other aquariums in my house. For the money of one I'd just pick up a 10g tank, a Viper clip on and a nice skimmer.

Not to say it doesn't work great as a nano. My largest fear was that most nano fish are small gobies that are prone to jump out of open top tanks.

I bought this one for my daughter:

Shipping is kind of high, but when it arrives, you'll see why they charge so much - it's worth it. Only problem with this is that it needs fans. Cost me about $12 to put 2 fans into the hood. Works awesome. Here's a photo.

Except for the jumpers this (http://www.tropicalfishstore.com/Aquarium-ZeroEdge.htm) is the Nano to get !!!

Well maybe not as it doesn't come with lights. But as anyone that went to MACNA can tell you this tank (ORA) was the coolest.

for ross's comment, i give you this (what I am going to shoot for with this next tank) http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=75821&st=0

so far I am leaning towards the oceanic cuz of the moonlites ;)
(I have been 'serious' for years, I am looking for a little less 'serious' now!)

The 12 gal DX comes with the moonlights, but if I was able to start over I'd go with the oceanic biocube line, they actually hold the posted amount, the NC 12 gal only holds about 8 1/2 gals.

bstreep, what brand/maker is that ebay cube? are you pretty satisfied? what would you change if you could?

Cube Master. Just the fans - or lack thereof. I added a couple of 12v fans and a 12v powersupply from Altex. Put them on the same outlet/timer as the lights. Holds a constant 77-78 degrees. Also, I put an additional powerhead and foam filter in with it. Aside from that, it's pretty cool. And it's hard to beat the price.

I'm a little slow but I think I'm going to be picking up the Oceanic tank here pretty quick. Anybody been around town recently and seen who has them in stock? I will probably do some calling around tomorrow. Going to combine the ten gallon fo nano and the 2.5g pico reef into this tank so I can begin the transformation to the tank pictured in the link above! Will post pics after the combination happens ;)

I think I saw them last week at River City. May not have been the size, so you'd still need to call.
