OK, I am working on my clam tank...new to halides
Can I store the ballast for a 250w hqi in a enclosed cabinet? nothing else in there...no water since the tank will be plumbed into my main system.

ballasts will create some heat, can you put a fan or hole for air to circulate in the cabinet?

I just put a hole in the back for the wires to go in, but the hole will be against the wall, so not alot of circulation, but I can put a fan in it.

You should be okay with a fan, if not atleast some holes for circulation.

i have 250w HM in my hood on my 37 cube. my back is completely open. id say my MHs add about 2-3 degrees to the temp when on. Ace built me a sweet fan into my hood but luckily i havent had to use it at all

Hey Don is this the ballast I sold you?? It should have a built in fan that cuts down on the heat. Small exhaust holes would help get rid of the rest. The ballast to me didn't seem to get that hot.
