This morning when I left for school about 8:30am my 3-4" spotted sweetlips was behaving very strangely. Instead of hiding in the rocks as usual he was out in the open seemingly struggling to stay alive. I assumed the worst and decided I'd head off to school and I'd probably have to pull him out when I got home. When I got home from school he was gone. I've moved all the rocks around and everything, I can't find this fugger! Does anybody have any suggestions? I dont think his inmates would be able to eat him this fast and nobody around here admits to taking him out of the tank. Any ideas!? :(

Do you have a large clean-up crew? I had 2 2-3" clowns, a sixline wrasse, and a cleaner shrimp gone in about 5 hours with the small amount of cleaners I have in my little tank. My starfish did the most work though. If you've got a brittle or serpent star, they make short work of a fish.

Did you look all around your tank to see if it came out? Check overflows?

Jeremy I meant to tell you Saturday you had a killer tank, blahhahaaa. Ok that was horrible.

Cody I'd check all around the tank as you were instructed. That guy was beautiful. I hope it turns out ok. Mine is still doing great. If yours is indeed gone I'll hook you up in Nov with mine.

Yeah, I've checked all around the tank, inside and out. Nothing.
I've got about 50 hermits, 2 emerald crabs and 2 purple lobsters. I suppose they could have taken him out in about 5 hours but jeez, it doesn't seem feasible! He was a big focker!

Thanks Mike, I'll give you a call later.

Your squadrant of killers had a seafood buffet. Nature takes care of herself.

I am sorry to hear that you lost an animal. On the other hand... time to go shopping for a new tankmate.

I found a part of his side today stuck to a rock. It was a sheet of fish leather... or something. A big patch of his skin is all that's left of him. I took it out and sewed it to my quilt so I'll forever remember him.
