When a branch of an acro sps starts to die off, should you cut the dead part off or leave it alone? I had one that started to die off and left it alone hoping that it would recover but it just spread and eventually the hole thing died. Don't want this one to die!

You can try to cut off the dead part, but what I've found to be successful is to pretty much make a new frag or two of very healthy tissue. As far away from the rtn location. This doesn't always help because I have had situations where not only the mother colony would rtn but also the new frags. But I've also had many successes with the new frags while the mother colony dies. Often something with your water is making the coral "feel funny" and if you can make water parameters as perfect as possible I've found this to stop my dying colonies from dying further. Hope this helps.

yes Frag,, if it is a very slow recession it is most likely not RTN but the result uf some stress event.. could be white band disease... if this is the case then fraging will most likely cure your problem.. just remember.. frag outside the tanks and dispose of dirty water.. also a good iodine dip will help with any infection it may have had..
