i want to replace the MH bulbs in my 48 inch outer orbit current usa light, but i dont know what to get. I know they are double ended 150 watts, but does it matter which brand? I think the bulbs that are in there are a little old and i wanted to get ones with a little blue in the color to bring out the colors of the coral. Any ideas? Im new to MH lights and i got the light from a friend so i dont know anything about it but that i got a sweat deal.

ReefLux 150watt DE 12000K
Item #: RL-DE-15012
The SE are blue, I would think the DE would be the same. Contact http://www.coralvue.com they are great at answering questions

i run that bulb that alon mentioned in a 250 watt version and love it. it is very bright with a hint of blue - not too blue. the corals have really colored up since i started using them as well.

the ballasts will only support the bulbs they are intended for. you would probably have to get a whole new fixture.

In fact you would have to get a new fixture. I retro'd a 150w de setup to accept 250w de. Would have been cheaper to just buy a whole new set up.

I went with Pheonix 14K's and love em. I did a poll asking as to what brand I should get about 2 months back. This was way before MACNA. From about 30 replies 25 were for Pheonix. Now that MACNA ocurred everyone is saying Reeflux.
