Thanks to Gary, I have a gorgeous toad stool leather that is getting rather enormous. I am thinking of fragging some of it soon. I have heard that one can cut pie slice pieces out of the top. Is this an acceptable frag? Will the sliced hole heal quickly? How does one mount a piece like this? How much would be a reasonable price?

If I slice the entire head off and move it, will more than one grow back from the base, or would it just be one? Is there a way to encourage more heads to grow?

Gary, just so you know: This is by far my favorite coral in my tank. It has almost quadrupled in size since I brought it home! My clark clown "feeds" it at dinner time. It's really neat to watch. I owe you big! :D

Short answer: Scissors or a serrated bread knife.

I was going to suggest some Barry Manilow, but I guess Gary's option is faster ;).

If you really want babies, you should cut off a small part of it and put it in a blender with saltwater and shred or liquify, whichever setting you prefer. Basic biology says all you need is a single cell. I have a little Kenya Tree growing from a spot that I peeled off every bit I could find, guess I missed a spot.

I sent loans_n_fishes home with that volunteer that resulted from me moving my monster a couple of years ago. Where I cut it off of the rock I now have two growing from the same base. Its a very prolific coral. Whatever you do, just give it dirty water and light. Works for me. :)

P.S. I like using bridal veil to hold the frags in place until they attach. If you leave it long, the coral will just absorb it into the tissue.

Ok...I'm going to frag him. First I plan to cut the entire head off, then cut the head in half vertically. One of the halves will be cut in half again and sold.

How much should I ask for a frag of toadstool? Each smaller frag would be around 3" across the head. I've seen some prices on websites for "small" "medium" and "large". However, I am not sure what constitutes each size. I would think these are at least a large medium. ^_^ I may be willing to cut into even smaller pieces if it makes it more desireable/affordable. He is a beautiful pinkish color. I'll try to get a picture of him before the hacking begins! :o
