I had an ammonia spike....

that is probably why your water is cloudy, hight nitrites (which comes after an ammonia spike) can cause it.

nitrites - i know they are soluble, but i have had it happen on a FOWLR tank. it wasnt super cloudy, just barely "smokey"

1. Microbubbles
2. Calcium carbonate precipitation (2 part over dose)
3. Something spawned (Anemone?)
4. Bacterial bloom (excess nutrients)
5. Some phosphates products will cause cloudiness
6. Sand being stirred up

Ace you got me on the high nitrates thing. Nitrates are water soluble and should not leave any noticeable cloudiness.
