I need a chiller that is 1/4 or 1/3 hp that can be controlled by the reefkeeper 2 controller AND have a built-in heater. Where can I find one?

Not to sure about the controller part, I'd figure you could just as easily set the temp higher on the chiller but lower on the controller, but Prime makes some nice units for reasonable change that can include a heater. Also you could just buy a cheap Hydor inline heater for under $40 and then use any chiller you want.

Like caferacermike said it would be easier, and IMO better to just get a chiller and put it onto a dual controller. I'm using a 1/3 HP chiller with a Medusa dual controler that hold my temp stedy in the 78 to 81 degree range.

Does dual controller just mean that it has a turn on and a turn off setting making it have dual functions? Thanks caferacermike, and brewercm for the info.

Dual controllers generally mean it can control 2 devices. Like for you it would control heat and cooling. Just take a look at the Current brand, Prime chillers. They come with a digi temp built in and dual controllers and include a sleeve for inserting a heater. It would be the best of all worlds for you and a 1/3rd unit with heater would probably be around $800 delivered.

Any thoughts on the pacific coast CL-650 chiller it is comparable to the prime brand from what I have read, and is about $50 cheaper. Does the pacific coast brand have the ability to plug in a heating element? I will buy one by this weekend. My tank got up to 87.5* today after we raised the thermostate in the house to save on electricity. Man, what a difference just three degrees in the house makes. I would hate to see what would happen if my A/C went out completely.

The CL-650 is gone now. It was replaced with the CL-600. Just ordered one for a buddy of mine. Sweet looking, little smaller, looks like the the small white chiller. It does have a built in plug where it will kick on a heater.

I am looking for an internal heater in the body of the chiller. I don't have a sump and I don't want to put one in the tank, and I would also not like to get a seperate in-line heater.

I know the new TECO chillers have built in heaters and/or uv sterilizers.
