So, I inherited a CBS.... :D

I figure...he's small, well, only a few inches...what harm could he do? :huh

I notice a split fin on my sailfin.... <_<

Then a nick on a firefish..... >_<

A super spooked royal gramma... :angry

I'm no Magnum P.I., but I figure it's the CBS.

So last night I try to catch the little booger. At first attempt with a net, I almost had him, I really did. I quickly notice 2 CBS claws laying on the bottom of the tank.... :o

Problem temporarily solved though...he is going to have a hard time bullying everyone without his fancy claws. He still has his mini claws though. Now all he can harass are pods! :lol

It's like he jettisoned them like a lizard does his tail...seriously. I take it these will grow back with the next molt or so...

Has anyone seen this before?

Perhaps when they grow back I will try and trap him instead... ;)

I had the same problem about a year ago with a large CBS. I had to get rid of it.

They will grow back. Crabs/shrimp will do this...

yep i had to get rid of a cbs for that. i did have one cbs in a 20 hex with a maroon clown and damsel which the cbs did not harass though, but then again, maroons and damsels are capable and willing to defend themselves.

that said, i still see nicks on my fishs fins from my hermit crabs from time to time, but so far, no casualties.
