I was wondering if anybody uses this type of refugium?? If so ho do you skim the surface. My tank has no other type of filtration except this and I need ideas on how to skim the surface. I was wondering if the pre skimmer for the bakpak will also work on this.

I used the aquafuge until i had a problem when a snail clogged the outlet of fuge and cause a huge overflow. Not only that i am still in the process of getting my tank together, so one of my surge protectors was laying on the ground, water got all in it and caught fire. As for surface skimming probably the most effective way would be to get a skimmer with a pre-skimmer box, or do weekly water changes with the pre-skimmer box on the fuge as it would just put all the surface nastiness back into the water. Also are you running carbon 24/7? Have you looked into buying a skimmer? In my opinion on a reef tank a skimmer is must have.

Happy Reefing,

Chris

I have an aquafuge and, I agree, you need a skimmer or something else to get the gunk off the surface. Your hob refugium won't do that.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. I do have a skimmer (Tunze Nano) works really well. Also I did talk to a rep from CPR and the surface skimmer for the bakpak will fit on the aquafuge. My skimmer is located inside the fuge so hopefully this will work.
