I ordered some corals from marine depot live. (pretty good outfit, by the way) One of the things I ordered was a chili coral, and it has a pretty big hitchhiker.

The anemone-like thing is about 2-3" long.

I thought it was a small bubble-tipped anemone, but I have never seen one with tentacles that were shaped like hooks like this one.

Anyone know what this is?

It could be some kind of nudibranch. It was kind of elongated. But I have never seen one that looked like that.

has it moved? I would think if it was an anemone, the coral would be retreating away from it. My guess is some sort of Nudi too.

Put some flow on it and look for an oral disc, if you see one, its an anemone, or, try to feed it and check its response.

Yep, it is definitely a nudibranch. Saw it crawling around on the glass today. Anyone know what type?

More specifically - looks like a member of the Glaucidae family....

Wow, I had no idea there were so many variations.

I'm waiting now for someone to say "Oh my God! Get that out of your tank! It will nuke it and kill everything!"

Yes, I found it.

It appears that this particular species excetes a very toxic nerve agent! Get it out of your tank....AND USE GLOVES AND AN OXYGEN SUPPLIED MASK!!!

just kidding. :lol

Hey Alex, when do your chili polyps extend? That is, what time of day? I have a new frag, and have noticed them out, but didn't pay attention to what light it was under at the time...10k's, actinics, or when?

My friends year old chili comes out at night after the lights go out. By day a big ol dead looking lump of red. At night a giant puffy ball of white.
