On that kind of a tank I would recommend a mj400 with a 1.25" prop. Two (2) at most would do the job pointing them at each other from opposite corners. That's just me, I am sure others would install them in a different fashion.

Here are (2) pics of the mj400 I installed in my tank with a 1.75" prop.

Ok. I'm going to have to ask how this works? It looks cool. I've been thinking about changing the two pumps I have in my tank and I could go this route. I've come to realize that the Rio pumps don't stand up to the wavemaker all that well.
I guess I would need to get the MJ400 as well. My tank is 24x14x17, works out to like 24.8g. How do youcreate one of these?

:) Rio pumps don't stand up to much of anything! :o
Patrick, "ou812pez"...or close to that, is making a few for me on 1200's. Not sure if he wants to do more. You might pm him.

I'm just wondering how these are assembled. It looks like the "stream" part is attached where the intake is. Is the flow through the pump reversed?

You have to modify the impeller to a propeller and then create the output mod out of pvc. Once that is done, the impeller spins and rotates the propeller to produce the current out of the pvc. I think I even confused myself on this one. Pretty easy to make, just have to have patience. MJ1200's can push a great deal of water if modified. On smaller tanks like yours I would recommend the MJ400 with a 1.25" propeller.

Sweet. LMK if anyone is going to be making any, or could explain, kind of in detail, a list of parts and stuff. I'd like one of these.

I've redesigned how the housing mounts to the Mj. Looks cleaner compared to most mods. I'm also experimenting with cutting slants in the housing for better flow. Here is a earlier couple I did. I'm painting the housings black these days. I'm working on 6 this week.

This is one I've done for TexasTodd. I have a few extra housings I'd be willing to sell. I also have a list and pictures of the parts I use and where you can get them if anyone is interested in doing it themselves. Just pm me an email address and I'll send you a word doc..

Yeah, I have not found anything else less obstructive to the flow. I found these on this mod site but there a little pricey. http://www.mjmods.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=7&zenid=c606320e32 4cd0e56f1fb7eb7a1b0c64
I tried emailing a couple pvc companys to see if they carry them. No luck though. I'm thinking they're part of a bigger piece and the guy cuts the ends off. Looks like the terminal end of some drain.
