Can you help me ID this starfish ? http://www.photohost.org/gallery/data/500/1454P8040020-med.JPG

And I was thinking of adding a brittle star, what are pros and cons? Are there better stars to add for cleanup? Do you NOT recommend brittle or serpent stars?

Thanks for the input!!

Not the green ones. Mine killed a beautiful garden/ribbon eel. It now lives in the sump. I've heard that the green ones get huge and eventually begin hunting fish. My friend adores his pink brown brittle.

You have an interesting star, sorry I cannot help with ID. I've heard great things about Linika (sp?) stars except that you must be slow in acclimating. The blue and orange are supposed to be great reef stars.

Looks like it is a double like mako said. If it is and you didn't put it in there, you've got a $40-50 star for free.

Brittle stars are supposed to be good for cleaning up detritus. However, bear in mind that you might never see them once you put them in the tank. I have had some before that I would only see once every few months. Others were more active and always came out at feeding time. It just depends.

it would help if you had a closer picture but from that picture it looks like a double star

That is definately it! Although mine is a lighter tan outer star and light orange inner star as compred to the pic in the link. I did however get mine at a much cheaper price at the LFS in Waco ($17)! ^_^

Thanks Maco and all who responded!
