Base Rock Questions

What do people use for base rock. I know there are alot of answers out there. Just looking for some cheaper alternatives but dont want to put something in there that will give me problems later.

base rock is just cheaper live rock.... because over time it will turn into live rock.... stay away from tx holey rock... just my opinion...

You know, I noticed a small piece of that texas holey rock/limestone stuff in my tank. From what I undertand, it's been in a reef tank for over a year. Any chance of it leaching anything?

Just like he said, base rock is generally cheaper live rock, usually without coraline growth, etc.

I have known others that have used agrocrete for base rock...

I bought from hirocks and now that rock is covered in coralline.

I have had great service from him, have bought base rock 4 times, it always came fast, and the rock was nice.

I was on GARF earlier and I think I will make my own. I can use the stuff I make and put the 70lbs of LR on top and around it.

I have HiRocks also. Was good for me. I got one HUGE rock and a 2nd box of small stuff.
