Im wiring up 2x250w halides in lumenarc reflectors, and there is a green wire coming from the ballast, do I need to ground it, or can I just tape it off?

If it's the ground, yes, definitely.

i always run a ground to the metal of the reflector.

well you should have green coming from you socket too. but put it with your wire coming from the plug.

sometimes the sockets dont have a ground(green), they just have the hot and neutral(black and white - usually). when this happens, i use a flat bolt splice end and attach the green wire from the ballast to one of the screws that holds the reflector in place.
