My first non-nano!!!

I 'inherited' the 56gallon Ive currently got from my husband, but I didnt choose, or get to plan it out...so its not really what I want. Besides that its too tall for little ol' me to work in effectively.

Im so excited!! The tank came in early this week just waiting on lights, canopy, and stand to come in, then we get to plumb!

The lights will be 2 175w MH 12k's, 2 36in VHO actinics.

Flow will be provided by 2 EcoTech Marine VorTech Propeller Pumps. They are so cool! No cords in the tank, I love em!

Return pump will be an Iwaki pump (havent decided which one yet).

The sump (by Dan) has a built on refugium that slides back and forth and comes off...very neat!

Fish Inhabitants (already in the 56g...too many but Ive been planning ahead for the larger tank)

1 blue star leopard wrasse
1 pink margin fairy wrasse
2 swalesi basslets (my fav fish of all time!!!)
1 yellow watchman goby
1 horned blenny
Pair true percs (the male is an onyx)
1 purple firefish

Various inverts: porcelain crabs, pom pom crabs, emerald crabs, sexy shrimp, 2 cleaner shrimp, 1 fire shrimp, Im sure Im missing a few...

Inhabitants to come:
sand sifting goby of some sort
1 purple filefish
1 red firefish
1 helfrichs firefish

Coral will be a little of everything. LPS, softies and maybe some SPS.

The rock I used in the 56g started off as base rock and I haven't seen a single worm since it was set up; so I will be ordering bristle worms, spaghetti worms, and such to help get a stronger population going. Obviously I will put them in a couple days before the wrasses and hide some in the sump. Im also planning on Tonga Nassisarius (spelling?) snails, and a few more various crabs. The only 'clean up' creature I am avoiding is hermits, Im not a fan...but we'll see.

Ok. Most of the plumbing is done!! The return is an Iwaki 40rlxt and the skimmer pump is an Iwaki 20rlt. The skimmer is not plumbed in yet b/c it has to stay on the other tank until Im ready to move the critters over.

Here's the stand when it came in!!

I put the filter floss in around the back as an experiment...to see if it helps reduce sound without creating too much heat. It's not attached to anything just 'sitting' in there.

WOW!

Uh, Chrissy, I think you should get Brian to anti-up for a sweet Deltec RC skimmer for ya! ;) Quite and less heat.

Looks amazing. I might have to freaking hire you to do rockwork if (when) I go to a larger tank!
