I was walking by the tank about 15 mins ago and **** near pooped my pants. How did this snake get in my tank? What is it eating? I've had my set up for a year now, did it come with my rock? Is it venemous? I'm never putting my hands in the tank again.

Joking. But I must admit it gives me little heart attacks everytime I see that thing.

Ok I've heard about a hundred names so I will combine it into one long one, you decide what you want to call it. It's a banded snakehead ribbon garden eel. It's quite the beast. Sifts through the sand during the day and completely disappears. Late and I mean late in the evening (after midnite) it comes out and swims the tank knocking over my favorite corals and clams. Has left everything alone and seems completely reef safe. My concerns were 400 illnasarius snails, 4 saron shrimp, 1 purple lobster (tiny), and I was also watching my little dragonette scotter blennie and algae lawnmower blennie.

It's quite the site to behold as it is over 3' long and in a 4' tank. It's very easy to forget it's in there until you are having a sleepness night and happen by the tank on the way to the fridge. Taht's what happened last night and I was so out of it I really had no idea what it was or how it got there for about 5 seconds and then I laughed and grabbed my camera to see if you all would get the same reaction.

When the attendee at the lfs was bagging it it was able to wriggle free of the bag and onto the floor. When Hunter went to grab it I asked him if he was positive it wasn't a sea snake cause it looked a lot like one. He looked again and pulled away, way away. We laughed and got it in the bag.

My GF hates snakes, but loved our banded eel. He would come out at night and be cruising the tank when she did her nightly -pee break and walk the house to make sure that all was okay. I was really suprised that she liked it, cause she really hates snakes. Unfortunately, he died, would not eat as he should. Found his skelton when I broke the tank down, SAD. Won't ever do another again.
