I would like to add stronger lighting to my 35 gallon aquarium, but as it is, with compact fluorescents under a hood. Only half the length of the 48" aquarium is uncovered. Even so, metal objects in the room (flytying clippers and such) are rusting. How do those of you who hang the halides over the uncovered tanks keep metal objects in your house from rusting?

Please respect my lack of knowledge on this topic, and please do not hijack the thread. If I knew the answer I would not be writing in.

I have two uncovered tanks and have not had any problems with anything rusting. But the room they are in is quite large and has alot of air circulation. Maybe you could try adding more air exchange via fans? Or maybe get a de-humidifier. I realize this would increase the evaporation of you tank but it would lower the humidity in the room and maybe stop the rust problem.
Just my dos centavos
Hope you figure it out!
