So I made a couple of magnets mounts for my PHs a while back and they work real well. I have some leftovers and wondering if anyone is wants any. I would have to make them so if no one is interested im not going to bother. I'm sure I'll use the materials for some other project.
Hm... maybe this should go in the selling section, but then im not really selling anything, just asking.... oh well... I guess let me know if people still want these or if everyone is just buying them these days.

honestly I couldnt say the max size. Total it has about 180 lbs of force but what that translates to in pump size i dont know. I only have a 70 gal so all my PHs arent that big. I guess I could strap a mag 5 to it and see if it can hold it up. Not sure if my tank is going to like that very much :P Maybe I'll just strap a rock to one and see how it holds up. How much do the larger PHs usually weigh?

I was curious about using it on a tunze style pump.

I haven't intended to blow you off on the weight. Got busy and everywhere I was looking yesterday I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I'm actually going to want one for a RIO Seio 1500 but can't seem to find the answer to the weight. I'd guess around a pound or two.

It's fine I didnt have time to test the stregnth yesterday either. I'll strap a rock to it tonight and see how it handles it

Nice looking work there.
What did you encase the magnet in? Also are those neodium magnets (high strength)?
One thing that should be considered is the thickness of the tank you would be using them on. For thicker tanks you need a thicker magnet which you can make by stacking them up. I made my own cleaning magnets for my 3/4 thick glass tank and some 1 1/2 inch thick acrylic tanks. Those magnets are 1.5 inches thick and can take off fingers if not careful!

yeah theyre the neodium magnets..... 1 1/2 inch thick tank! That's insane.... how big is your tank

My tank is a 400 and its 3/4 thick glass so Im using 1" thick magnets on either side. I made several for cleaning large acrylic tanks (500+ gallons) that are 1 -1 1/2" thick and also some for polishing public aquarium tanks. I experimented with some resins but I found them difficult to work with when coupled with large magnets. I used polyethylene sheeting and routed out a carriage for the magnets to rest. I then welded a back on with a plastic welder.
Is your material brittle at all? Would it crack or shatter if dropped? Where did you buy the molds?

I wouldnt call it brittle, but im sure it would chip if i dropped it. For the molds I just bought a ton of different things and just tried them all and found one that woks best

Are the magnets completely sealed from water contact? Just want to make sure that they won't corrode or break down in contact with saltwater. I know earlier I said I might want you to do some MJ mods with the magnets fo rme, but I just found out I am getting 2 small seiio pumps from a friend that thought they wer to small. I will want some magnets for those.

So I still dont know the exact weight of a Tunze but for some reason I think the mount is strong enough :lol

Mike, what size seios are you getting in and having him make for you. I have a 1500 I'd like to get one made for also if you can use one of yours as a template.

These are 2 M620's. I know they use a different mount. Not to woory though as I think I can source up some mounts for the 1100. A friend is a wholesaler and I have been setting up a lot of tanks. Been using tons of seio's. I'm buying back the 620's froma friend with a 200g. When I set up his tank I told him to get at least the 1100 or a Tunze 6060. He ordered the 1100 but never paid for it. So of course I set up a 160g and take the 1100 for that owner. Same day first friend decides he wants the 1100. Of course he does. I told him Matt had 2 620's if he wanted to give them a try. Said he didn't think they were doing anything and wanted to get rid of them, so I offered to buy them for my 75g.
On a side note. Brewer I set that 1100 up and man does that thing make noise. Sounds like a vacum cleaner. Alex told me his 620's were silent when he set them up. My Tunze are so quiet you'd never think they were running. Have you ran the 1500 yet? Is it noisy?
I should be back to finish the 160 in the next week, just waiting for light fixture to arrive. I'll grab an extra mount plate for Mr. Dark.

I don't even notice when I turned the 1500 on. If you haven't already pull the magnet out and make sure it didn't fall apart. The one that was in this one was broken when I bought it from the guy but he already had a new one for it that he gave me.
