weird cowrie

Just found this weird cowrie in my tank, and i have no idea where it came from! The tank has been the same for months now with no new additions!! Its kinda light tan with an orange ring and darker tan inside that. About 1in long....anyone know what it could be?

yup thats it. Are they good or bad or what

They're fine but once they get big they can become a nuisance and knowck stuff over. I don't think they will ever eat corals or fish though.

I assume they eat algae?

Yep, they're pretty good algae cleaners, I think they eat mostly film algae though.
