last night i was looking in the tank w/ a flashlight and i noticed 2 new things. first i saw what i thought was a light brown patch of wierd looking algae....until it moved. i assumeit is some kind of slug. the 2nd is a worm of some sort it was black and white striped and body shape was like a snake (rounded head) rather than a worm.

any iedas what they are and more importantly do i need to get rid of them.

Black and white stripe sounds like the arm of a brittle star with the tip broken off or a pipe fish. Keepers.

Wierd moving nocturnal thing = have another beer... ok, seriously, if its been set up for a while and things are not mysteriously dissappearing, its a friendly Chiton more than likely, and is likely a friend cleaning up detritus or eating algaes.

On a second thought, it would be wise to identify the "snake" with more details, such as scales vs skin, etc. Get pictures, and get a good look at the tail. Figure out where its living. If it just happens by some rare coincidence to be a baby sea snake and not a pipe fish, its deadly poisonous.
