i have a current orbit light system that is over a year old and one of the ballast has gone bad. i have left a couple of e-mails asking where to find a replacement ballast but have got no response yet. has anyone else had a problem with their ballest and if you have how did you get a replacement?

you could probably get one of several brands of ballast to work in that hood...but I'm not completely sure without seeing it for myself.
hellolights and others sell loose ballasts....
Just make sure the ballast is designed to drive the correct number, wattage, and type of bulb(s) that are in the hood.

Okay lets start over then. the Orbit you have is 4' or 6'? Is it 65w or 96w? If it is 4-65w CFL's Then you should have 2 - ballast powering two lamps each and this would require a workhorse 5. If it is for two 96w lamps then you will require a worhorse 7. If it is workhorse 5 then you would hook up the (ballast)2 reds to two reds on the socket and the yellow to the two blues. And on the second lamp it would be(ballast) two reds to the two reds on the socket and a jumper from the othere socket/yellow to the two blues on the 2nd socket.
