Hello,
On my rocks the Coraline algae is pealing off...
Is this normal?? Natural process or is dying?

calcium is at 460 and other parameters are good but I haven't check phosphates.. that's they only reason... maybe. My lights are 1 month old.
In a different forum they told me that it was a normal process... I will buy a phosban reactor soon... :)

Is it bleaching as well? My coraline algae used to peel off a little but never completely. It would peel off and start scrolling like a scrolling monti. It was pretty cool. To what lighting did you upgrade to?

I will upgrade hopefully with in 4 months and I will need help to build my own fixture. For how much could I build a MH fixture myself? average?

I had that happen once when I accidently got my calcium really high. It grew so thick that it wouldn't stick to anything any more. It came off the glass in big sheets. I end up giving away a bunch of it to folks that were starting up new tanks to help seed their tanks. We just crunched it up into a powder and dropped it in.
