I was wondering about dead live rock. When we moved we lost some LR and it read about this idear how to flush the dead LR in your toilet. So i stuck all of the dead LR into the back of my toilet and i was wondering how long it should stay in there and if i should do something else before i can put it into my tank?

So you actually put live rock in the back of a working toilet?

I think you do that when you make agroconcrete (as the other thread was talking about..) The reason you do that was to drive off the chemicals...if I'm not mistaken.
I think for a saltwater reef live rock must be cured with saltwater. I could be wrong on this. I'll let somebody with more experience chime in.

Well i'm not too positive about making the rock, that does make sense to put it in the toilet to constantly get fresh water.
To cure live rock you need to use saltwater.

ah well i think everything has died off because i left the rock in a box and kind forgot about it for 4 months or so. ( i was wondering where the box went) so i thought i could flush the dead stuff out and then maybe dry it and then put it into the tank. please let me know if this is a good idear or not. i just don't want to kill everything in my tank. oh and thanks for your guys input so far.

your old dead rock doesnt have to go in the toilet. the reason people put the rock in the toilet is because it is home made live rock. because of the concrete used to make it the ph is really high so it has to be cured. the old way was to put it in a bucket of water and change the water out almost daily for several months till the rock/concrete cured and the ph went down to safe levels for the tank. someone came up with the idea that back of the toilet gets fresh water every time. that way you would not have to manually change the water.
now as to your rock. i would spray it with fresh water real good to get all the "stuff" off of it. maybe even a trip to the car wash to spray it real good. then take it home and run it in a bucket with fresh saltwater with a lot of current for about a week or two
