you dont have an overflow? do you just have a siphon tube to the sump?

the siphon tube is connected to a hob filter, so if the power goes out the filter cant bring in water, so the siphon has less than a 1/4 gallon to suck up. you have to be at my house to see it.

I know how you did it. Great thinking Louie. Glad it worked out. Did you get a larger tube to go from your filter to the sump?

Louie:
Did you put sand in all the compartments in your sump? You only want it in the middle one. If you have it in the first one where the water drains from the display tank, it will be constantly stirred up. If you put it in the compartment where your return pump is, it will clog your pump and it will stop working not to mention that the sand will be stirred up and pumped back to the display tank (only for a while because the pump will stop working from sand in it).

i added a piece of acyrlc to lift the pump away from the sandand a little water fall so that the water hit the glas and slowly falls in,

Louie,

I'd love to know what you are talking about but your diagram looks tiny on my 26 inch monitor. Can you blow it up a bit?

The picture is way to small to make much sense of it. When I blew the picture up, it looks as if it is being syphoned from an overflow box.

Louie, you may want to reconsider this idea if you are syphoning, it is to risky and too many things can go wrong.

First get us a larger picture so we can see what you are working with, lol. :)
