i haven't added any new acro's in about 3-4 weeks. the sps that the red bugs are on i've had for 3 months now. and the red bugs are only on the one sps.
what is the treatment for these guys?

I recently caught the red bugs as well. I took out all my acros and did an iodine bath and qted my acros for 3 weeks. Another way is to use intreceptor but this stuff will kill all crustaceans and worms as well.

Uhh oh...what do they look like? I've had a few SPS dieing, but I thought it might be just bad tank parameters. All my parameters just checked out though. how small are these bugs?

here is a coral from my tank before i treated with interceptor. i caught as many hermits as i could find for a couple of days and moved them to another tank. i also moved some live rock rubble and macro from my fuge, so i could repopulate my pods after treating. treated, then a couple of weeks later, moved the LR rubble, macro, and hermits back in, and now, a few months later, you would never know i had the bugs. (sounds so dirty doesnt it?)

Definatly not something you could miss in the tank. I was worried I couldn't see them.

They are difficult to see with the naked eye. I never knew I had them and my acros kept dying. I also thought my water params were bad but i kept testing and nothing was wrong. Well I took some macro shots of my coral and zoomed in on my computer and thats when I finally saw what was killing my acros...

Sometimes I wonder if I have them. I lost one colony all of a sudden for no particular reason. Is the only way to spot them with a camera?

i saw mine with my naked eye. look really close around the polyps, what tipped me off was the movement.

i spotted mine just looking... you have to look at it for 2-3min and look for little moving specks. i only found them on one sps. and i took it out and tried iodine dip.. the bugs are gone and so is the sps. i'll be keeping an eye on the other colonies to make sure they are good. if i spot any more i'm gonna have to treat the tank.

After I knew I had them I could see them but I was never aware of them. Most my acros died and I have only 3 frags left and theyre in qt and dont seem to be doing to well and they still have red bugs so ill have to redip them again before adding them back into my dt but not sure if theyll survive the dip.

you could do the interceptor treatment on your QT tank, i know jeff did it that way, and it took care of them.

Ive got to go out and find some of that stuff. I talked to one vet and they said theyre starting to use new meds for heartworms and are beggining to discontinue the use of interceptor. Ill just have to keep trying at different vets.

low and behold, last night after coming home I looked at a few SPS...sure enough they are there. So it's got to be something you ordered from that last batch that I got some small pieces from you. I've got SOME interceptor, I'm awaiting some rocks right now from reefer rocks, so when that comes in i'm pulling my inverts out and dosing the tank.

maybe, but the what u got wasn't big enough to have them. and none of the new ones i got have them. i only have them on 1 of my acro's and i dipped it. no other corals have the bugs.
all my acro's are good.
