You probably bored with these. That's ok. It is an addiction for me just like reef tanks. LOL.

This time I did it a little differently. I used my shutter release and "Bulb".

This seemed to work well and was actually easier. Hardest part is remember to release. Sometimes I would forget to release and end the shot. I get wrapped up watching the show.

Anyway, here they are.

You should send in some of you pics to the local news and they might show them during the weather segments.

What apperture are you using? is it hard to get the correct exposure? i'd think it would be difficult to get enough light even with the shutter at bulb... what film speed are you using? or is it digital.... (im getting into a bit of photo, annd im ttrying too figure some things oput :P)

I use an old manual type slr on my telescope set on bulb when Im photographing distant M objects like galexies or nebulas, works very well, the trick is finding the correct exposure time. Ive timed some objects for 30 minutes or even longer to get a decent image.

How does this work guys? Do you have to time the lightning when you take the shot? I am a newbie to all this but I want to get more into photography.

Camera on tripod. Shutter set anywhere from 3-30 seconds or Bulb. Aperture set somewhere in the area of f8-f16. I used Bulb on these with an external shutter release. Simply held shutter open till I got something or if too much time has passed. This is first time I have used this method. Normally just set exposure to 15-30 seconds. It is like fishing though, sometimes you will get a run of nice shots and sometimes you will get nothing. I have got "Nothing" more than I have got some cool shots. Just like fishing I sip on some yummy beverages to pass the time away. LOL.

Mark have you ever thought of setting up a lightning rod in your back yard so you can get closer pictures? Awesome pictures
