Hello,
I will be moving my 75 gal. softie tank next monday. My question is how best to keep the corals while i make this move. I will be moving to Bastrop about a 45 min car ride from where im currently at. I was thinking about setting up a 20 gal. holding tank to put the corals in. While I set up my 75. Im going to take all my old water with me. Live rock will go in a ice chest. Any thoughts on how to keep the losses down?
Thanks, Rob

put your corals in an ice chest also when you get there put a light over it and drop in a pwr head.

Do you think I could take the corals and put them back in the 75 right away or should I wait a day or 2?

i would wait a day or two for the water to clear up and when you put them back in keep an eye on your parameters incase of a spike in nitrates, expect your tank to cycle again but not real bad.

if your using a substrate, that's one thing to be carefull of. be sure not to stir it up too much when replacing the water. a canister filter is really handy here for clearing up the water fast, if you don't have one, try and borrow one. then you can also use it to run some carbon for a few days to help out with any ammonia spikes you may get.

are you planning on keeping the sand in there. I have to make make a move within austin in a few weeks and was considering just leaving the sand in there.

Not sure if I will have the bodies to lift the tank with the sand in. I was planning on leaving the sand in (ideal) and adding another inch but it depends on how heavy it will be. Thanks for the input. I think I will leave the corals in the 20 for a few days.
Thanks Rob

we moved my 80 bowfront last year with 3 inches of sand. It only 4 people. Not to mention it was only 3 blocks too.
