I just got a new LTA, it was with my clowns at the store and they were all over it.

Well, the clowns are still all over it, rubbing all over it, but it is not doing anything. It hasn't hardly changed since I put it in, and it doesn't seem to be responding to them.

Is this normal? Bad?

What kind of response are you looking for? Anemones are immune to the clowns and visa versa. It probably doesnt know theyre even there. As long as the anemone appears healthy, it'll be fine. Gotta pic?

Sorry, I don't have a picture (last person on earth not to have a digital camera).

It's just I'm not sure about the way he looks. When he was at the store his tentacles (?) seemed to be moving, and fuller. He doesn't seem to be moving at all.

I'm not sure if that makes sense or not.

It was probably in a higher flow area in the store, they cant move their tenticles on their own. If its not 'flowing' in the current, I suggest you up the flow in at least that area. Oh, I dont have a digital camera either, youre not alone. lol

Thanks, I'll move him and see if I that works. That is if I can get the clowns off of him, the female is laying in him right now!

Remember, LTA's prefer to be on/in the sandbed, if you place it on a rock, dont be suprized if it moves. You may have better luck leaving it where it is and re-directing the flow or adding additional flow.

give it some time to get used to your tank as well before it extends...

I have had a LTA for many years. It's 16" across. It definitely likes to be on the sand bed. Mine has burrowed thru 3" of sand and attached it's foot to the bottom glass of the tank.
It's sensitive to Alk and Ca levels and PH. When my Alk was high and Ca low, it stopped opening and at times didn't even come out above the sand.
It loves good strong 10K MH lighting. Try feeding it a little and see if the tentacles grab the food and pull it in. If it does, that's a good sign.
They can move their tentacles on their own, especially when offered food. Try small peices of shrimp, silersides, bloodworms, etc.
