I need suggestions for some product to place some corals firmly on my live rock. I have tried underwater epoxy and the putty stuff but it wouldn't stick to the live rock. Any suggestions? :(

I've found using super glue gel works best but you usually want to try and dry the surface that you are glueing the coral to in order to get a good bond.

Superglue gel works well for SPS.

its tricky sometimes, but if you can rub some gel onto the rock and then rub some onto the coral and then glue the two together it should work. the Loctite reusable super glue gel containers work best.

1. Take a old, but clean, toothbrush and brush the area in the tank where the frag or frag rock will go.

2. Then put some Thick Gel Superglue on that place underwater.

3. If the frag is on a rock and the rock has been in water for any length of time, brush the underside with the toothbrush.

4. Put some superglue on it and hold it in the water for about 30-45 seconds (glue will turn cloudy).

5. Then take it out and put some more glue on it.

6. Put the frag rock on top of the glue already on the spot where it is supposed to go.

7. Hold in place for 20-30 seconds (longer if in a lot of flow).

8. If the frag is not on a rock, just hold it on the place where you initially put the glue.

This is just the method that had worked best for me.

John, that is pretty much what I do. When I glue a frag to rock, i put plenty of gel on the rock and put it underwater for about 20 seconds. The gel does turn cloudy and thickens a bit because of the cool water. I then take the frag and put right on top of the glue, hold if firmly underwater for a couple of seconds until the glue cures a bit more and then I just place at the desired place. The process moreless takes about a minute.

Just a hint. I found the two tube packs of super glue get at Big Lots for $.99/ea. It may not work as well as the Duro brand gel I used to buy at HEB or WalMart, but at the price I can use half a tube on a frag.
