I need some help with my new baby

3 days ago the storke came and turned my banned catshark egg into a banned catshark. My husband and i are thrilled about haveing it. haven't had the chance to do the cool stuff such as checking if it is a girl or a boy or even how long he/she is. so my problem is that the shark will not eat of if he does i don't know about it. i tryed krill, ghost shrimp and not i am trying brine shrimp in garlic juice ( or what ever that stuff is called). i soaked the brine in the juice and try to feed it with a turkeybaster. no luck it turned around and acted like he didnt want it. so if anyone could help i would love to hear from you

Try making your own mix of really meaty foods from the grocery store. Like clams, gulf shrimp, and maybe some squid. Then stick it in a blender for a bit and freeze it. You can also lay it all out after you blend it and cut up before you freeze so it's not so hard to break apart.

I admit that I am no expert on sharks but there is possibility that a newly hatched shark may still be feeding off its yolk sack and may not be interested in feeding. I'll see if I can find some resources online to help you do some more research.

Mine just hatched one week ago and has not eaten.
<Not unheard of at all can take up to a few weeks and sometimes a few days. Remember they feed on the yolk until hatching.>
The store where I got the shark egg from says that the shark should be eating right away and if it does not eat soon that it will die.
<If sharks don't eat they will die, but remember, as I said before, they do feed from the yolk until hatching and in some cases it may take a while for the shark to build appetite.>
From some of your other questions answered you stated that you should not feed the new born for three weeks.
<Oh no, it can take a newly hatched pup three weeks to eat but you should offer food every day. The question here is what foods are you offering? It is well documented what to feed them but I would try pieces of human quality prawns, krill pieces, smelts, anchovies, squid. Try various small pieces of fresh human quality marine foods.>
I am just confused with what I have heard and what is on this site.

I just don't want to starve it for 3 weeks and risk it dieing if this is not what I was suppose to do.

BTW, its a banded cat shark, not a banned cat shark. Probably Chiloscyllium punctatum.

Try using a wooden bamboo skewer to feet it meaty foods like table shrimp, scallops, or squid. Also, what size tank do you have it in? They grow to be over 40" and can quickly outgrow anything smaller then a 240 gal. tank.

thank you very much for all the info. right now i have him in a 50 gallon tank for now but i am getting another tank ready for him. his own 300g (8'L x 2'T x 30" D)
oh and that was a typo i know it is a banded cat shark
