I have some wierd starfish on my live rock. I can't give you a picture, but they seem to have 4-5 arms, and are deformed, or not formed correctly.

Are these bad? Should I find a way to remove them?

if this is it, it is an asterina. they have never given me any trouble. some say they can be harmful in very large populations. i wouldnt worry if you dont have a plague.
they can have varying numbers of legs.

there is a variety of asternia that eat sps, read up on them at garf.org.

Yep, Harlequin Shrimp. But.... When they finish off the asterinas you will have to buy starfish to feed them, or sell the shrimp.
