Harliquin (spelling) shimp will eat starfishes, but they will eat any and all starfishes.

Besides Harlequins, not much will eat starfish. Your babies are probably fine. I'm sort of hesitant to believe that your star fish had babies. Starfish larvae go thorugh a planktonic larval stage that would not likely survive in your aquarium. Starfish also reproduce asexually by dropping an arm that grows into an adult. Asterina do this very easily and that's why they can grow to large numbers in an aquarium. My red linkia has also done this. At last count I had about 5-6 in my 125 gal. tank.
Its pretty cool when you see this huge linkia arm with 4 tiny arms growing out of the base crawlinging around the tank.
