I have a Maroon Clown I bought at AW about 2 months ago. He is actually interested in hosting in a BTA I just got Friday. I noticed him starting to get cozy with it tonight when all of a sudden my 6 line Wrasse comes darting out of the rocks and starts chasing him. It seems like the 6 line thinks the BTA is his. The clown tried to go back a few times and the Wrasse is now chasing the clown all over the tank.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do besides give the 6 line the boot? I was really shocked that Clown would be interested in hosting that fast because it is tank raised. I would love to see it happen though. I am worried that it never will with the Wrasse chasing him around the tank now.

The Wrasse is about twice the size of the Clown. I just moved some stuff around in the tank Friday when I got the BTA. I don't have anywhere else that is set up to put the Wrasse for a while. I can set up a 10G and put the Wrasse in time out if I have to.

Thanks,
James

Maroons love btas ime. I had one that went directly to a bta minutes after adding it but then I decided to get a pair of Perculas. You can try taking the wrasse out for awhile and rearrange the rocks and let the maroon settle in then put the wrasse back. maroons are usually aggressive towards fish that get too near their anemone. Theyll even attack your hand :)

The clown moved in last night. The Wrasse is still not happy about it. The clown figured out he doesn't have to run now he just buries himself in the BTA.

Thing that puzzles me is why does that Wrasse think he owns the BTA?

That's pretty weird. Poor sixline, doesn't know what he's in for when the maroon grows up LOL.
