Here is one of my all time best.
It was given to me by Marc at Seaworld.

When I first got it the color was a pale blueish-pink. I did a fresh water dip and it then turned a ghost white! After awhile under a 400 watt 20k XM blub it turn into what you see.

Ed, that looks Samoensis-ish. By the looks of the pic, a little on the bleached side. Hows the polyp extension?

Fri, 7th Apr 2006, 08:03 PM
Ed, sarmentosa maybe? I am really not sure about this one.

Jim,
The polyp extension is great. It doesn't seem bleached to me, probably the poor pic that makes it look that way.

DOesnt seem like a samoensis to me. Samoensis have thicker branches and polyp extension is not as long like in the pic.
JimD
Fri, 7th Apr 2006, 08:47 PM
Its really hard to tell from that pic. Judging from the pic, color alone rules out Sarmentosa and branch thickness is usualy regulated by flow. My Samoensis looks similar to the one pictured and has tremendous polyp extention.

Jim, I agree on branch thickeness being reugalated by flow. Its really hard to tell. As far as thicker branches, I was referring to the finger type corals. Here is a pic. Btw, finger acros are my favorite. I am looking to buy more on my next trip to san antonio.

i just have a toshiba pdr m70. it is 3.3 Mpixel, and i use a macro lens for the stuff up close. i take almost all my pix with a tripod and the built in timer so my hands arent touching the camera when it takes the pic - that really seems to help.
here's a better pic of the last one i just took with PC lighting only - MH already kicked off.

That last one looks in bad shape, maybe you might need to give me a frag so that I can save it. LMAO! Great shots! You gonna be home after noon tomorrow?
