My wife would like me to add a Red fish to my tank. The only one I can think of is a Flame Angel. the problem with this is that I have a softie tank and dont want to take a chance in him picking at my corals. I have a Sailfin and 4 assorted damsels in tthere now. Any suggestions?

I was going to say that. Flame hawk. Or one of the clowns.

I have a Flame in my 200 with some softies with no problems. The best part is he gets along with everybody Queen Angel, Clown Trigger, Purple Tang, Clownfish. I don't believe there is ever a guarantee on which fish will pick on what. I had to trade in a Regal Tang a while back because he was niping on my SPS. Good luck on your decision. I have two tank raised clown fish in my 155 that I enjoy, because there is no anenemoe they swim all over the tank.

how about a candy cane hogfish? Ours is a trooper, eats everything and is always out in front.

some good choices. As someone mentioned don't rule out clowns. Maroons are a really deep (and in my opinion beautiful ) red color. Also a real young dwarf flame angel might not pick too much- or at least might go for a while without doing it. Depending on how attached y'all get to individual fish you might want to give it a try and worst case swap him out later or set up another tank...

my flame is very well behaved, at least so far! i've got all sorts of stuff in there with it, all i've seen it take out is those tiny feather-dusters, and she's totally erradicated them from the tank( that's OK though cause there's still plenty in the overflows).
