Well, my little 3/4 gallon pico tank has been going for over a month now and was setup using live sand from Finaddict and water out of my main tank so I'm sure it's well cycled by now. Levels are all perfect. Anyway, I put this together for my wife and we only planned to put in a plate coral with a sexy shrimp. I bought a plate coral (short tentacle) on monday and it seems to be looking okay.

I was wondering what the preferred method of care is for these things. I'm just using a bit of DT's every other day for now. Is this good enough or do I need to feed it mysis or something. If so, how the heck do I feed it?

Also, what are they supposed to look like when they are at maximum health?

Pretty much the best thing for them is good light and water quality. You can feed it mysis by just sticking one into its mouth at night or when ever its tentacles are extended.

You can tell if they are happy if their nice and puffed up and colors are good.

Cool. I guess they're pretty easy then, huh?

I doubt the DT's is doing much more then making the water green. I have fed plates mysids, krill and silversides.

I feed mine slices of table shrimp and somtimes pieces of oyster from HEB. It's pretty amazing just how big it's mouth gets you put a really large chunk on it. It's probably doubled in size in the 6 months that I've had it.

Just after feeding: The white is a large chunk of shrimp that it just ate.

That's awesome. How often do you feed it?

I don't have a feeding schedule for it, so it's only when i want to watch it eat. So anywhere from once a day to maybe once in two weeks. It's never rejected the food, but sometimes loses it to the crabs or shrimp.
