It seems like the dendrophyllia seems to be one of the most popular corals so far this year? Does anybody have one? If so, whats your experience with it.

So what are the other popular corals for 06'?

By the way I don't have one either. I had no idea it was the popular coral this year, huh? I was thinking Acan lord and alien eye watermelon were big ones.

Nope, those were actually last year's. Thats a nice dendro though. THey are expensive too. People usually confuse them with sun corals.

and yes they are mine. They get about 2inches in diameter when they open all the way. So basically it takes up 3-4 inches in my tank with only 3 mouths to feed vs. 10 mouths to feed in a sun coral that takes up the same room. I love them! Ive had them for about 2-3months now.

Ah, now i get it. They are cool and I've always thought they were sun coral, but truthfully I've never seen the particular type I posted in real life.

Their polyp extension is much longer. They are prettier too imo. THe chalice species seems to be very popular too.

Exactly right...the colors are more vivid and they get huge when they extend.

It seems like we go through a cycle of what corals are in "style." Last years it was acans. The same happens with fish too. The main impact of this cycle seems to be that prices shoot up. Some are not even that rare, its just that everyone wants one and its a simple matter of supply and demand. Acans are not rare in the wild, but prices went through the roof. The same thing happened in the last year with Hippo tangs because everyone wanted "Dori."
