Got a AC unit for DIY Chiller.

Okay so my mom told me the blower motor went out on the window unit we have for our built in porch. So guess what I've now got a 10,000 ish BTU AC window unit, that just needs a TI coil and some boxwork. Anyone got some good ideas for plans. I'd like to keep the reef at 75 or 76 degrees, and now it's at 80-82 after the MH cycle. It hovers around 80 most of the day. I'd like to slowly bring the temps down over a month or so. Ambient temp in the house stays around 80 most of the time with 78 being when my parents are at home. So any plans, materials, or knowledge you guys can share I'd love to hear from ya!

I looked into lots of DIY options for chillers long ago. By the time you buy a TI coil, a decent temp controller, and tech labor to put it all together ... you don't save that much and probably don't have a very efficient unit - JMO!

Any reason you want to get it down to around 75? From all the readings that I've seen there is nothing wrong with it being in the 79 to 82 range during the daytime periods and dropping back during the night hours which is somewhat natural.

That is with 82 being the top end of that range and not for too long. Not intending to bust on you or anything and hope it doesn't sound like it. Just doesn't seem cost efffective to me. I do have a chiller myself, but that is only because my sump/fuge is all in my garage which can get quite hot itself.

if you look at actual sea temperatures they are not anywhere near 82deg. Also I'd really bet that the volume of water in the ocean the diffence between day and night temperaturs are measured in .1's of degrees instead of degrees.
