Has anybody had any success with sea hares cleaning up their hair algae?

I have not tried sea hares but lettuce nudi's have done a great job in the past for me

Sam from Zenreef used to have some seahares for sale, and I have heard good things about them. the problem I believe is they don't stay small like lettuce nudi's, they get big.

Supposedly they're among the few animals that will really eat most kinds of hair algae, even reports of them eating briopsis.

I have had one for several months now and she keeps my tanks clean of algae, hair and macro. I have had to supplement with a large shee of nori every two days to keep her from starving. There are a few here in MARSH that are about to go onto rotation into a few other people's tanks.

They were passing them around in the local B/CS group a while back, people said they were really effective (do get big though).

Mine is the size of fish, well a girl's fist, and in my 38-gallon reef. Surprisingly, she moves well through the tank and doesn't knock over anything, unlike my longspine urchin.

She? I didn't know hermaphrodites were referred to as she. :)

She? I didn't know hermaphrodites were referred to as she. :)You take away the 's' in "she" and you get "he". ;)

I have always been facinated with sea hares. I have gone back and forth about eventually getting one. I have heard that if they release their ink it can poison the tank. I have also heard that they can grow to around 18" long! :huh Is there a variety that stays a little smaller? I have a 75 gal tank.

The one I got from Maroon Lagoon is about 4 inches long and fits nicely in my 38.
