i figure i'll through this out just in case......

a few days ago i discovered "spongebob" our 2" yellow spotted boxfish COVERED in what looked like ich. he has been in a 75g holding tank for a couple of months while we finish his home to be. he is in with a cardinal, a scooter blenny, some soft corals and frags and a lot of LR. the large colt looked all wrinkled and the torch coral was melting.
I frantically tested the water quality. all was excellent, except, the salinity was close to 1.030. over the next 2 days i brought it down to 1.025.
SpongeBob never appeared to be sick except for this nasty ich all over him. he continued to eat like a pig and scoot around the tank as usual. i considered treating him but decided to wait it out as i have caused more problems by acting too fast in the past and he did not seem to be suffering. he began to improve, and as he did the ich started to look more like dandruff.
Today he is 100% back to normal. it took about a week. and everything else has survived except the torch
I now believe that i gave him a chemical peel with the high salinity and he may have squirted some of his toxic juices causing the damage to the corals (or the corals were reacting to the salinity too). lesson learned.
