I have a special brittle star removal service. I would be happy to take care of them for you. I have a special disposal site all set up and waiting its first shipment.
Seriously though, they are a very good thing. I have heard that the aragolive sand is full of brittle stars. They are a detritivore and are part of a good clean up crew. You may have so many of them befause you don't have a lot of other detritivores in the tank. Most detritivores will breed to the point that the food supply will support them. The same thing applies to bristle worms. If there is a lot of food, they will breed to large numbers to where their population is balanced by the food supply.

BTW, IPSF sells those things for $4 each. Sounds like you may have struck gold. :)

Ok...Ok... :unsure
Are we talking about the same thing here??
Maybe I'm confusing them with something else... but i could of sworn they were called "serpent" starfish...
Let me describe them while i take a pic if i can...
First of all they are small..
long thin tenticles with a banded black and white pattern on them..
small circular body in the center... not sure how big they measure in diam, but i have ALL sizes.... :unsure
Now Gary.....if you're saying people will actually buy these ....
WELLLL then... I'm all set to retire cause I have enough to stock every member here.... :)

Do their legs appear to have small hair on them or just smooth scales?

those look like mini-stars I used to have before the old system got taken down. I would pay money for them, not the IPSF 4$ per mini-star price mind you, but I would definately give you some cash.
one of the cool things you can do with critters like this is give some away as a door prize at a MAAST function. helps the club.

Yep, that looks like the ministars to me. Good detritivores. I find them crawling around in the branches of SPS all the time.
