What type of light fixture can I use (clamp on...)? What kind do you use? Do they put out too much heat? Where did you buy it from?
Any suggestions...

I have a cheap clip on fixture and 25 watt 65k pc bulb. I purchased both from Wal-mart for approx $15 dollars. I placed this on my sump to grow more cheato. It growes very slowly under this light. I believe this is because; not enough wattage, and being too far from away from the water due to the clamps design. I do however, have a thick layer of dark purple coraline alge growing on the sump walls.
If I cared enough to attempt to grow cheato in the sump, I would add one more setup and make a bracket to lower the lights.
On my 10g fuge above the main tank, I run 4 - 10 watt 65k pc bulbs, purchased from Wal-mart. I have them in 2 of the 10 gallon standard light strips that contain screw in type sockets. The cheato grows very well in this tank.
I have seen several fuges with Normal Output flourescent light strips using plant, grow light bulbs. Wal-mart has all of these bulbs in the lighting section. The PC bulbs are the type you would put in any standard light socket.

You don't really need to spend a lot of money on fuge lighting. As Ping said, a couple of standard fluorescent bulbs from Home Depot are good. I would suggest using the gro bulbs (5500K). 5500K just happens to be the same color as sunlight.
