I have had a request to explain how to do these things.

These were done quite quickly. I have been seeing such things for awhile and I never tried it. Took a minute to figure it out. Very easy..... For a basic one here are the instructions.

Using your favorite editor
1. Perform a square crop on your picture
2. Use the Distortion Filter using the Polar -> Rectangle option
3. Rotate result 180 degrees
4. Use the Distortion Filter again Select Retangle -> Polar option
5. Done!

There are lots of variations on this. And there are actions available to automate it.

FlickR (and perhaps other photo sites) have a whole group dedicated to these things. And there are some really good ones. Just do a search on "Amazing Cirlces" and you will find them.
