Ok guys. Im cutting an overflow in my 30L and I would like to know how big the hole should be for the PVC. Im thinking 1 1/2" , but if im wrong let me know. Also does anyone know where to get a Diamond Plated Core drill bit that will fit a dremel tool? Thanks

How big of a bulkhead do you want? I just drilled my 30g and i put in a 2in and a 1in bulkhead, which is a 3in hole and a 1.5in hole....

I think thats like a 60mm drill bit. You can get them on ebay for like $13 shipped, they are cheap though but they work for 1 hole...

only place i've ever seen them is ebay, or you can google 'glass drill bits and the very first place that comes up at the very top has good quality bits, but they are expensive.

I'd recomend buying the bulkheads first and then getting your bit. Some bulkheads take a slightly bigger hole.

Doesn't Harbor Frieght Tools on Fredericksburg Road carry diamond bits? Cheap but inexpensive! They should provide you with one hole atleast.

It depends on the method of drilling you want to do. I have drilled multiple tanks with the 'dremel' method. You can find the diamond bits at Home Depot and Lowes. I use bit #7105 to cut the starting hole and #7134 to cut the circle. You just have to go slow and keep the bit wet. I use a spray bottle.

The Harbor Freight bits, click here (http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=42829), are common and should work just fine but the largest bit will only drill 1/2".

This, click here (http://www.technologylk.com/products.aspx?category_ID=3&source_ID=google&keywo rd=diamond_drill_bits), is the way to go if you have the money! I would imagine that they are difficult to get right with a hand drill but should cut excellent holes with a drill press.

Buy the bulkhead first so you make sure that you get the hole the right size.

Good Luck!
