would i be gaining anything by going from an 80w pc (40w acticnic + 40w dual) fixture to a 70w MH fixture or would i actually be losing strength.

both are the orbit fixtures. ive never run MHs and am fairly stupid on how they work.

this is for a 30g cube btw, if it matters

thanks in advance,

tony

If you changed from 80w PC to 70w mh that would be a big step up but I would consider a 150w that would be great for a 30g cube. I almost bought that same tank and I was thinking about a 250w 20k over it. HTH

thanks for the response

i was thinking the exact same thing on the 150w at least, its only $30 more. the main reason i was considering the 70w was the 2 for sale on nano-reef.com for $150 each. thats a steal

ill wait and pick up a 150w eventually

You get two for $150? that is a deal and I would grab them. That you work pretty good for just about everything but I don't think I would keep SPS under them.

Either that or go with a single 250 watter over the cube. You can either go with something like a nice 14K Bulb that gives a nice blue/white mixed look to me.

The reasons I say go with 250 is you will not be limited, if you decide you want to put a clam in later you're good to go. Also there are many times more 250 watt SE bulbs that go up for sale (very cheap) than any others that I've seen.

Just a thought.

thanks guys, i appreciate the info

my only quark is that i dont want to put a hood on it. i was kind of hoping to find one of the setups like the sunpod.

anyone know of a 250 available like that (20" of course")?

i may have to rig up a pendant some how as a last resort
