I am in need of input regarding how to install various pumps. Presently, I have a sequence dart (3600gph) which I was going to use as the main pump to go up the two overflows on a 215rr. I also have a mag 18 which I plan to use for the skimmer. I just added a chiller. Two questions...should I get another pump for the chiller, or can I use the dart and tee off. Secondly, where do I send the water coming out of the chiller? Should I possibly send it up one of the overflows. As you can tell, I am somewhat confused????

for the main pump put a union and a shut off valve at the intake and output, I'll make life easy if you got to remove the pump for any reason.

As Josh stated, check the gph for the chiller, but if you use one of the returns for the chiller you may have some problems, use a pump with as sponge filter and you'll be fine.

The chiller recommended flow rate is 750-1500gph. What exactly is a sponge filter and where can I get one?

One thing on chillers, as I understand it, is that you don't want to blow water through them too quickly. Per the other posts, there is an optimal flowrate through the chiller. I'd recommend a larger-than-necessary pump, then throttle it back with a gate valve (NOT a ball valve, which is more fickle to adjust). Like other's have suggested, I'd take the water out of the sump, and put it back there, too (not in the same spot). If it has some time to "mix", that is optimal.
